Utah Judo Class Jan 17th

Okay, so I am still not so good on the actual names of the moves… we worked Thursday night on a move for when you are both sort of leaning forward, and holding on… you ping to the side, so you are in front of/to the side of the persona nd throw them down in front of you.

The really key thing that I am finding is that there is a different mindset you need to have with Judo than with some of the other stuff I have studied (okay, I’m not super experienced or anything… I got to a Purple belt in Karate class.)  They key different is that Karate seems more like a dance… when you teach a dance move you show step 1, 2, 3 and 4.  So you do this, then this, then this, then this.  It is multiple pieces put together into a whole.  Judo is more like a cartwheel.  There is no step 1, then 2, then 3.  It is one constant, fluid momentum or it does not work.  That seems to be the key in Judo: momentum.
