I need to open by saying that I love Dan Henderson (in a purely respectful way of course ), and I still think he has the potential to beat Anderson Silva.  I think he did a great job of managing the takedowns.  The part that surprised me most as the incredible speed of Silva’s kicks.  When Silva came out kicking I was sure he was being foolish… for most people facing a grappler like Hendo it is a terrible idea to kick… too easy to get taken down.  But holy crap… Anderson strikes like a cobra.  His kicks are SO FAST!

Where I think Hendo made mistakes are: first, I was stunned when he tried to Mui Thai clinch with Silva.  I understand Hendo is a good striker.. but I think that was a bad move.  Anderson did not capitalize, but it could have gotten ugly.  The next thing that seems odd to me is the actual finish.  I have watched it a few times, and it sure looks like Hendo has his chin tucked, and then looks up.  Why?  Did he look for the clock, or did Silva manage to crank the head up?

Kudos to Silva though.

Also, clearly I picked the Kongo fight wrong.  Kongo’s ground game was far better than expected, but I think that Heath was just hot.  I was really impressed wit Herring’s performance (and Kongo’s quite frankly), and look forward to seeing them both more.

Judo Class tonight.  I haven’t had a chance to work any further on my cardio… looking forward to it.
