Utah Judo Class June 12th: Snap, Crackle, POP!
I think my rib is broken. It hurts really, really bad whenever I sneeze, couse, breathe deep, stretch, or turn. I have never had a broken rib, so I’m not entirely sure… I kinda thought a broken bone would hurt constantly… but it only hurts when I do those things.
I tried to convince myself that it wasn’t broken… just something hur a little, until last night when I tried to lift my three year old little girl, felt a sharp pain and burning sensation spread across my chest, and found myself making a sound I have only heard on the movie “Charolete’s web.”
So I think I broke my rib.
No. That’s not quite right… I think Sean broke my rib. So, I know what ou might be thinking… this sounds like more of that “sean kicked my ass,” whiney crap like in my last post. Not entirely true. I was actually really please wit my performance last night. My standup game was actually pretty darn good… my fight for ground control was good as well. And that move Sheldom taught me to avoid someone just grabbing your collar and choking you from the front worked GREAT! (Thanks Sheldon, you’re my hero on that one… saved my butt several times last night.) For those who may be curious, the tactic is to grab their collar, and then straight arm shove your fist into their throat. If they try to choke you with your collar is just drives your first further into their throat. It’s great.
But then, right in the middle of things, Sean rolls me over, and I feel this “POP” in my chest. It didn’t hurt so bad right away. It didn’t even hurt much at all during class, although I really, really was having more trouble than normal getting back enoug gas to be able to Randori… which was sad, because I did some Randori with Jerry, the MMAniac in class, but was pretty feeble by that point. (BTW: Welcome Jerry!)
But by the time I walked out o my car it was really hurting like crap…. I sat for like ten minutes waiting for it to stop. but it didn’t.
On a side note, one of my favorite martial arts blogsd to follow Marial Farts, is sufferring from an injury as well… I feel your pain man!!! Check out his frustration of not being able to train like he wants… unfortunately I fear that will be me for a few weeks as well
Nice job Sean, and thanks for the beatdown!
Ooooh… good luck with that man.
It’s the second major injury I’ve had from training, and the time off is killing me! I can feel myself getting worse and watching everyone else get better! ARGH!
Thanks for the link.
Hope it’s not too serious and you recover quickly.
Thanks for dropping a line Matt!! I love your blog!
Ya, that’s the real bummer…. knowing that I will be getting worse while I heal. I have been doing the elliptical to try to keep m cardio from declining at least while it heals.
