Utah Judo Class: Wraping up the Year with Randori

img_0106We had the last Judo Class of the year on Saturday.  I have to say, I really enjoyed it.  Mike talked to us about taking Randori a lot more controlled.  He talked about not trying to win… not going full force.

What we ended up doing was more of a dance.  Not a line-dance or something like that where you already know the moves.  But more of a free-form dance, where you just react to what your partner is doing.

The key difference between that, and how I have been doing Randori, is that in a dance, you are working with your partner, rather than competing.  I am finding this much harder to explain than I though :)   But trust me, It’s cool.

I have to admit, I am a bit bummed at a week off from Judo.  I miss it already.

At least I got something to remind me of it over the holidays… Saturday Brady and I butted heads by accident, and I ended up with a bit of a shiner.  You can’t see it real well here, but my cheek bone and eye are a sickly yellow.

Also, I am hoping that January isn’t quite as hectic.  I had to drop one of my two Judo classes (the Lehi one) for the month.  I look forward to the new year, new insights, and getting back to both classes though.
